Reflexology is the application of appropriate pressure to specific points and areas on the feet, hands and ears. The term “reflex” refers to the fact that these points are responsive to stimulus. Reflexologists believe that these reflex points correspond to different body organs and systems, and that applying pressure to these points has a beneficial effect on the organs and overall health. Reflexologists also believe that nerve pathways exist throughout the body. When any of these pathways are blocked, the body experiences discomfort or illness. Reflexology revives energy flow and brings the body back into homeostasis or a state of balance.
Reflexology is beneficial for restoring balance and harmony in the body and releasing tension. Many people describe a profound sense of relaxation and increased energy following a session and it can also help calm the emotions and produce a serene mind.
Although reflexology is not used to diagnose or cure health disorders, millions of people around the world use it to complement other treatments when addressing conditions like anxiety, asthma, cancer treatment, cardiovascular issues, diabetes, headaches, kidney function, PMS, and sinusitis — it's even used in hospital settings.
In addition, specific studies have shown that reflexology can reduce pain and anxiety, decrease premenstrual symptoms, and reduce fatigue and insomnia. Reflexology is said to work really well to assist fertility. When pregnant and post 40 weeks I can gently and non-invasivley assist your body to labor — yes, really!
What to expect: You are fully clothed, minus socks & shoes. Clients sit in a wonderful zero-gravity chair, which already sets you up for great relaxation, (it's so good for those of you with back issues) you allow life to drop away for an hour or so... Some people fall asleep, some talk, some get the giggles and some get emotional. This state of deep relaxation allows your body to process or heal emotionally and physically.
It is recommended that clients have at least three sessions of reflexology; that said, please do come for a session to see if you like it — three sessions are super, one is great!
